Miona Lee received her BFA in Theatre Performance at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She is an Associate Company Member for Strangeloop Theatre and a Company Member for The Living Canvas. Favorite roles include: Emily Cristy in\u00a0Hack\/Slash<\/i>, Cobweb\/Snug in\u00a0A Midsummer Night’s Dream<\/i>, various characters in several Living Canvas productions (including credits for writer and movement consultant), Vixen in\u00a0Bram Stoker’s Dracula<\/i>, Martha Graham in\u00a0Ten Lives in Performance<\/i>, various villainous characters at the Springfield Children’s Playhouse, and Gwendolyn in\u00a0The Odd Couple<\/i>. Also, thank you to my husband, Tim, for the constant love and support.<\/p>\n

SCHEHERAZADE, a Persian maiden (one of few left) has come into womanhood watching the Sultan’s crazed crusade against womankind. One evening she enters the court to bring her father, the Vizier, home to dinner, but instead meets the opportunity to put an end to the Sultan’s madness through reflection, story-telling, and no little bit mockery.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Woman names the Sun, shall it be Lunar?
\nIf Woman begs you eat, will you then fast?
\nIf Woman cries you Health, then kill yourself?
\nAnd if your Wives should say, Perform the deed
\n<\/em>That you yourself hath said<\/em>, will Men turn Shapeless
\nAs swaddling Boys? and there dissolve beneath
\nThe Sultan\u2019s Doom where presently you were
\nBut firm and resolute? The Path is clear,
\nI am no Obstacle to your Reason,
\nNor to the sound Decisions that you daily
\nImpress upon my Lord. The Choice is solid;
\nOur Praises and our Slanders are but Vapors,
\nLet the Choice stand, walk the path you have brav\u2019d,
\nI only say that I will follow you,
\nNot as you are my betters, but that the Path
\nIs Meet.\u201d
