Favorite roles include: Emily Cristy in Hack/Slash, Cobweb/Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, various characters in several Living Canvas productions (including credits for writer and movement consultant), Vixen in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Martha Graham in Ten Lives in Performance, various villainous characters at the Springfield Children’s Playhouse, and Gwendolyn in The Odd Couple. Also, thank you to my husband, Tim, for the constant love and support.

SCHEHERAZADE, a Persian maiden (one of few left) has come into womanhood watching the Sultan’s crazed crusade against womankind. One evening she enters the court to bring her father, the Vizier, home to dinner, but instead meets the opportunity to put an end to the Sultan’s madness through reflection, story-telling, and no little bit mockery.

“If Woman names the Sun, shall it be Lunar?
If Woman begs you eat, will you then fast?
If Woman cries you Health, then kill yourself?
And if your Wives should say, Perform the deed
That you yourself hath said, will Men turn Shapeless
As swaddling Boys? and there dissolve beneath
The Sultan’s Doom where presently you were
But firm and resolute? The Path is clear,
I am no Obstacle to your Reason,
Nor to the sound Decisions that you daily
Impress upon my Lord. The Choice is solid;
Our Praises and our Slanders are but Vapors,
Let the Choice stand, walk the path you have brav’d,
I only say that I will follow you,
Not as you are my betters, but that the Path
Is Meet.”
